Aloha Beach Boys

If you missed it we were in the Noosa Journal last Thursday.

Noosa has a new surfing club - the Noosa Heads Beach Boy Surfing Club.  Don't worry, it has nothing to do with those old fat dudes with the falsetto voices.  The club takes its name from the origins of Stand Up paddle surfing, when it was i
ntroduced to Waikiki Between the wars by Leroy & bobby Ah Choy and their beach boy colleagues who ran - and still run - the surfboard hire and outrigger rides at the most famous beach in the world.

President - elect Col Broomham informs me that the club signed up 30 members and 11 kids at their first sign-on last Sunday, and they have affiliated with Surfing Queensland.  CLub Secretary is Jodie Marsh , other half of 'Woogie Marsh,' who just happens to be the fastest paddler in town.  Col and spouse Annie are a real waterman couple who, in addition to their Stand Up passion, both style it on longboards and, in the not too
distant past, were a world class tandem duo.

Col says the Beach boy club aims to "bring the aloha spirit to Stand up Paddle Surfing in our town.  We aim to educate paddlers of all levels of expertise in how to surf safely and survive our hectic crowds."
